A Nakuru court on Tuesday summoned Teachers Service Commission (TSC) CEO Nancy Macharia and Director of pension to appear before court on July 25 to explain why retired teachers have not received their retirement pack.
Through lawyer Dominic Kimata, the 52,000 teachers who retired up to June 30, 2007 have not received their pensions even after they won case in 2008 to have the money disbursed to their individual accounts.
The teachers have blamed TSC CEO for not discharging her constitutional duties of disbursing the money after the National Treasury allocated the money in the previous budgets.
Due to the ongoing lawyers strike, Lady Justice Janet Murwa ruled that the case be slated till July 25 and ordered the two to appear in person.
Kimata condemned the office of the Attorney General at Sheria house, 7th Floor for registering other teachers other than the ones in the records of TSC.
He said that the teachers using back door to present their grievances will be in for a rude shock since the allocation of funds will be disbursed to the registered teachers.
“We have been following this matter for 13 years and those purporting to help the teachers get the money would have come long ago. We are following the direction of the court,” Kimata said.
The retired teachers won a petition to have the retirement pension allocated to them in 2008 but they have never received the Sh4.3 billion.
