Kisumu County Director of Teachers Service Commission Patrick Nyagosia has dismissed the employment of over 700 Early Childhood Development teachers by the county government.
Nyagosia said the process was illegal. He noted that it is Teachers Service Commission (TSC) mandate to recruit, transfer and discipline teachers.
He said TSC does not recognise the newly employed teachers noting that Kisumu County Government failed to consult his office before starting the process.
The officer said the county government has made a mistake to employ the teachers since there is a pending case in the court on the matter.
Nyagosia said that TSC only recognises trained teachers, who are registered by the commission.
Briefing journalists in his Kisumu office on Monday, Nyagosia said he is consulting the commission´s head office in Nairobi to give direction over the issue.
However Kisumu County Governor Jack Ranguma has maintained that the teachers are officially employed.
