Making the announcement on Thursday, TSC Chief Executive Officer Nancy Macharia said that a majority of those to be promoted are the ones who have been serving under P1 and the lowest job group G.

The 5, 067 teachers will now move to job Group H.

In secondary schools, 1,037 Approved Teacher Four under job Group H will now be promoted to job group J.

"These teachers were promoted after completed the Teachers Proficiency Course conducted every year," said Macharia.

Additionally, at least 1, 298 teachers in higher job groups have also been elevated.

"This is the highest number of teachers to be promoted to the senior teaching and institutional management positions at a go," added Macharia.

Macharia through a press statement sent to newsrooms stated that teacher promotions were part of TSC's strategy to address career progression in the teaching sector across the country.

"We seek to motivate and retain teachers by continuously addressing their terms and conditions of service ," addedMacharia.

Macharia however, urged teachers to avoid falling victims who are out to collect money by pretending they could fast track their promotion.
