The Ministry of Education has forwarded names of errant schools heads to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) for disciplinary action to be taken against them.
Speaking on Sunday in Eldoret town, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Dr Bellio Kipsang, said that the errant teachers are the ones who have been found violating the recently gazetted Basic Education Rules and Regulations.
"We have instructed our Education Officers to go round checking for those teachers contravening the rules. The ministry has already forwarded names of errant teachers to TSC to deal with them,” he said.
He added: “Things like tuition are completely banned during holidays and weekends. The rules outline well when children should be in and out of class.”
He added that more than 61,000 primary school teachers are already receiving ICT training in readiness of the laptops set to be rolled-out to class one pupils across the country.
He said that the ministries of ICT, Education and Energy will oversee the project jointly to ensure it is done quickly and a successfully.
