National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders were holed up in a crisis meeting Tuesday January 30 moments before Raila Odinga showed up at Uhuru Park solo.
The meeting was held at a high end hotel in the posh Riverside estate and attended by all the NASA pricinpals, save for Kalonzo, and their stalwarts.
Also present was billionaire Jimi Wanjigi.
Sources said the meeting was tense and radicals were pressuring 'certain principals' who had reportedly coiled tail over the swearing in.
To be clear, Kalonzo did not turn up for the meeting and was instead always put into the meeting through his mobile phone.
His decision not to turn up for the meeting, which had been agreed on Monday, met many as a surprise.
Other sources who attended the meeting said Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi had been convinced by radicals in the Ruiverside meeting to accompany Raila to Uhuru Park.
They agreed. However, after leaving the hotel they sped off to unknown location.
A photo of the three at Wiper offices would emerge later. They issued a statement over the developments.
“We agreed to meet again this morning. However, due to circumstances beyond our comprehension and control, the four of us did not assemble as planned," a statement read in part.
However, it did not pass to many that in te statement they issued, they never mentioned Raila's 'swearing in' that had since taken place.
Literatis captured the action of the three with Francis Imbuga's title, 'Betrayal in the City'.
