Former Rarieda MP Raphael Tuju has said that the development projects he initiated during his tenure as an MP and Foreign Affairs Minister still benefits residents of the Nyanza region.

He cited a water project that he claimed even today benefits many, among them NASA leader Raila Odinga's brother, Oburu Odinga.

“Oburu still drinks my water. He frequently sends a pick-up to collect it," said Tuju speaking during a burial ceremony at Aram in Siaya constituency, Saturday.

The former legislator lamented that despite his concerted efforts to initiate viable projects to improve the people's lives, he was branded a traitor of the Luo community.

He accused Raila of advancing propaganda against him for supporting his rival then, former President Mwai Kibaki.

"Raila labelled me a traitor of the community, saying my intention was to disassociate him from voters. People used to pelt me with stones and I had to run for my life," recounted Tuju.

The Jubilee Party Secretary General vowed to continue campaigning for President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto's reelection in the perceived NASA stronghold.

He expressed confidence that Kenyatta will beat Raila on August 8, saying Jubilee enjoys countrywide support.
