Jubilee Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju has termed the pronouncement of NASA coalition as a resistance movement by Raila Odinga as a desperate move with insignificant impact on the country.
According to Tuju, Mr Odinga was at a critical point in his political career given that he made an agreement with other NASA principals that he would only contest for the top seat once but all was not going well with the camp.
He theatrically accused the NASA leader of being in love with foreign terms as the earlier Pentagon team he came with and described the super alliance as using a foreign name Mr Odinga had picked abroad. He said the country will be able to move on beyond the movement declaration
“Raila is infatuated from terms he heard from the United States, there is nothing big, he made a deal with his team that this is his last time but he might say he did not run since he withdrew from the fresh election,” said Tuju.
Tuju said the NASA leader declared that the repeat presidential poll would not happen but had no forgotten he has no power to call off the election saying there is a constitutionally mandated body that would do so and not Mr Odinga.
He accused the Supreme Court of bias giving the opposition urgency while they had pushed a case Jubilee filed on October 19 to a day after the election rendering the protection they were seeking insignificant.
He termed the schedule for hearing a case by NASA seeking to have the repeat election called off as favoring the opposition and asked judges to act in line with the interests of the people.
