Jubilee Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju has for the first addressed reports that he had been arrested and detained in Tanzania.

Over the past few days, reports on social media indicated that Tuju was arrested in the neighboring country.

Speaking on Tuesday, Tuju dismissed the reports that indicated that he was detained alongside three other Kenyans.

He said that he had neither been arrested nor detained by the Tanzanian authorities. 

“I am not in jail, in fact, you can come buy me some tea and mandazi," he is quoted by the Standard.

Regarding those behind the allegations, Tuju explained: “There are people who thrive on rumors and propaganda but sadly, there is nothing we can do about it.” 

The reports circulated after Tuju went silent after the Supreme Court upheld President Uhuru Kenyatta's win.
