Jubilee Party secretariat boss Raphael Tuju has accused Mt Kenya residents of not doing enough in terms of registering as voters to elevate President Uhuru Kenyatta to the presidency for a second term.
Tuju said that there were still so many unregistered individuals in the region but was hopeful they will register before the end of the registration period.
"There are about three million unregistered adults who have IDs in the region. We hope that by February 14 when this exercise ends, two million will have fulfilled their mandate as Kenyans," Tuju said as quoted by the Star.
"About a million adults did not vote in 2013 and at the moment, more than 1.8 million adults who are yet to register as voters. These are the people who we are appealing to to ensure they are part of the 2017 general election decision," he added.
The former Rarieda MP noted that the opposition had made significant strides in the voter registration drive a move that he said should worry those in the Jubilee camp.
"The Opposition is making strides. We must run because they will catch up with us if we keep moving this slowly," he said.
