A cousin to Jubilee party secretary general Raphael Tuju was on Friday granted bond in a case in which he is accused of threatening to kill Mr Tuju in a conversation via sms.
Richard Aketch had appeared before senior principal magistrate Liz Gicheha for mention of his case.
His lawyer prayed that he be released on favorable bond terms claiming that he was the sole bread winner in his family and was not a flight risk.
With the prosecution having not objected to his release on bond, the court ordered that he be released on a Sh100,000 bond and a surety of similar amount with an alternative of Sh50,000 cash bail.
The case will be mention on February 12 in order to set a hearing date.
Aketch took plea on February 1 where he denied the charges.
He allegedly sent threatening messages to Mr Tuju which read : 'Do not try to step foot to your motherland, in case you think of coming carry an extra coffin' .
