A Coast-based university is set for a Sh500 million expansion which involves constructing a School of Medicine and hostels.
The Technical University of Mombasa (TUM) has already received the grant from the government for the project’s implementation.
University acting Vice Chancellor Prof Laila Abubakar said the projects whose construction has kicked off will be undertaken at TUM main campus in Tudor and Kwale.
She said the investment will see the institution start offering health science programmes.
“The university has set aside Sh214 million for the School of Medicine,” Prof Abubakar said on Wednesday.
“The School of Medicine will offer health science programmes. It will be the first in this region. We hope to roll out at the end of next year,” she added.
