Tunoi is accused of receiving the bribe from Nairobi governor, Evans Kidero to rule in his favour in a petition filed by his rival, now Kabete MP, Ferdinand Waititu. Tunoi said the private sessions should now be opened to the public. This decision forced the JSC commission to adjourn the probing on Wednesday. However, the judge still holds his innocence over the allegations.

Kidero in his defence, said he is not a corrupt person and that he could not bribe anyone to be in power. The governor also said that he had never met Tunoi. Tunoi has also denied ever meeting journalist. Geoffrey Kiplagat. Kiplagat, however, filed an affidavit saying he was the middle man between Kidero and Tunoi. He says he delivered the money to Tunoi.

The tribunal which suspended its sessions on Wednesday will resume on Tuesday.

Tunoi has, however, said he will make sure he clears his name.

Kidero also said if Tunoi clears his name, then he will also clear his name as the briber.
