Hawkers and traders at Turbo trading center have been challenged to support the police in addressing crime.
Speaking to hawkers at the market on Sunday, Turbo sub county Turbo deputy commissioner Kinyua Wanjau said that they are counting on hawkers support to tame crime at the market and adjacent centers.
The commissioner said that the public has raised concerns over the state of security at the market.
“We want you (hawkers) to partner with us so as to tame alleged crime at this market,” he said.
Wanjau said that more security personnel will be deployed at the shopping center to help curb the alleged crime.
He further said that police will conduct more patrols with the aim of flushing out criminals from their hideouts.
The deputy commissioner asked traders and the general public to be vigilant and report suspicious people and acts.
He said that the government has put in place relevant measures to fight crime and lawlessness.
“We will not tolerate people who want to cause havoc and disrupt our peace,” added the deputy commissioner.
