Turbo MP Elisha Busienei has urged area locals to register as voters in the ongoing exercise by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
Addressing the public at Turbo shopping center on Tuesday, Busienei said that residents will be able to take part in elections if they register as voters.
The lawmaker complained that most locals have not registered despite attaining the required age, saying failure to do so is a clear indication that they are not patriotic.
“We must be patriotic and take part in constitutional activities like voting and others,” he said.I want to appeal to you to take this opportunity and register as voters, so that you can be able to take part in elections,” he said.
The MP further urged IEBC to carryout extensive campaigns to encourage Kenyans to register, saying it is their mandate to ensure all Kenyans are educated on matters education.
The MP also asked IEBC to clean its house and seek to get confidence of Kenyans before the next general election.
