Residents especially those operating Bodabodas and businessmen have decried poor state of roads which have been worsened by the ongoing heavy rains.

Speaking at Mwamba Shopping Centre on Tuesday, Maurice Odumbe, secretary of the area business community said that poor road infrastructure is killing their business.

“Our MP promised to follow up on repair of major roads in this area, but he has since gone silent as we continue to endure hardship in terms of transport,” said Odumbe.

Odumbe cited the Turbo-Makuyu, Turbo Kipkaren and Mwamba-Lumakand roads saying they are in deplorable condition adding that Uasin Gishu County government must get to work and repair roads since it is their rights to demand for better services from the authority.

He claimed that the area has ben neglected in terms of infrastructure development, a move he said has slowed down development in the area.

On the same note, Odumbe appealed for more security surveillance stating that the rate of crime has gone up in the area threatening lives of businessmen in the area.

He said the business community in the area will support security measures being implemented by the government.
