Kevin Okwara has been declared the winner for Turbo parliamentary seat in the just concluded Jubilee party nominations, in Uasin Gishu county.

Okwara, a businessman in Eldoret town, floored other 17 aspirants to clinch the ticket that almost assures him a win in the upcoming general elections.

According to official results announced at the Uasin Gishu primary school by Returning Officer Kong'walei Barnas, Okwara garnered 5,509 votes.

Janet Sitienei finished second with 4,816 votes while the current MP Elisha Busienei was third with 4,579 votes.

Okwara is now on course to become the first non-Kalenjin MP in the Deputy president William Ruto's home turf.
