Traders at Turbo Market in Uasin Gishu County have appealed to the county government to construct modern stalls from where they can transact business comfortably.

The traders say that they are currently transacting their businesses in a poor environment, claiming that the open air market has lowered down their business since they have to close down whenever rains start.

“We want the county government to construct modern stalls and market to save us from the problems we encounter during rains and hot sunshine,” said Tom Mboya, Chairman of the traders in the market.

Chairman Mboya said that with heavy rains being experienced in the sub-county, they are forced to open work late and close earlier than usual for fear of being rained on and their commodities being destroyed by the rains.

He urged the county government through the aid of area MP Elisha Busienei to come to their aid saying their businesses is at risk.

Traders’ Secretary General Jennifer Shimonye also asked the county government to install lights at the market to enable them operate 24 hour to boost economy.

She added that most of traders are forced to close business early for fear of being robbed or attacked by goons.
