Youths from Turi have something to smile after the local MP constructed shoeshine stalls for them.
Speaking on Sunday at Turi Trading Centre, the Molo Sub County youth expressed confidence in their MP in tackling unemployment challenges.
At least twenty stalls have been built at the centre through CDF which is under the patronage of Molo MP Jacob Macharia.
The first phase has been completed at Turi Centre while efforts are in top gear to benefit other youths in Elburgon.
Stephen Kimani said that the claws of unemployment among the youth have now declined.
“One stall will employ at least five youth which means more youth will be absorbed in this informal sector,” he said.
He added, “With the youth being involved in income-generating projects, crime rates of among the youth will be a thing of past.”
For Edward Njogu, a youth from the centre, the initiative is a clear indication that the elected leaders should address the challenges facing youth.
“I urge elected leaders including the MCAs to come to the rescue of youth by providing them with projects that will help them earn a living,” said Njogu.
The youth urged Nakuru County government to increase plans for youth empowerment by increasing Uwezo Fund to uplift their livelihoods.
With looming death of CD, the youth urged legislators to defend its legality as it has been the hope for many of them.
