More than 50 members of the Turkana community living in a camp in Rongai, Nakuru County will now be issued with the national identity cards.
The Registrar of Persons in Nakuru County Emily Nyaga announced this saying that they will now be able now to go about their daily businesses.
Addressing the group in their camp, Nyaga said it was important to have the people registered, as many have always felt left out from the area development.
"We will be issuing you with the IDs soon so that you are able to transact your daily business just like the other Kenyans," said Nyaga.
She further added that the registration of the members had been suspended due to lack of vetting funds, which have since been released.
"We have now received the money for the exercise and the only people who will miss the IDs are those who did not come out for vetting," added Nyaga.
This comes after residents threatened to demonstrate, saying their rights had been overlooked for long, and they were not being treated like other Kenyans.
