The county assembly of  Turkana has approved all the 13 chief officers appointed by Governor Josphat Nanok.

The assembly on Wednesday approved the last lot of five chief officers during the last day of debating vetting committee reports tabled by various assembly sectoral committees.

None of the 13 chief officers who were appointed by the governor was rejected, meaning the governor is ready to implement his agenda for his 

the second and last term in office without hitches.

However, the positions of chief officer for Tourism and culture and that of Public works remain vacant and they would be re-advertised.

Those who were approved  on Wednesday include the chief officer in the office of the governor Abraham Losinyen and former Director of 

Communication, Rosemary Nchinyei, who will now serve as a chief officer for Trade, Gender, and Youth Affairs.

Others who were cleared are Dr. Jacob Lolelea Natade as Chief  Officer  Water  Services, Environment, and Mineral Resources and Namoit John Ariko takes up the Infrastructure, Transport, and Public works office.

The county assembly began debating the reports on vetting committees on Monday 15.

The Nanok administration now comprises of three women in the executive committee out of ten CECs.

Jane  Ajele heads the health docket, Jennifer Nawoi Tourism, and culture while Esther Lokwei heads the Lands docket.

The governor’s first administration had four women serving as CECs. Rhoda Loyor and Margaret Kuchal who served in the Department of Environment and Education respectively were dropped in the second administration.

Unlike in the previous administration, persons with disabilities felt they were not included in the county top leadership.

In the first administration, Joseph Epuu who is visually impaired served as a chief officer for Environment and Natural resources.

He resigned and successfully contested the Letea ward MCA seat.
