This follows a visit to the country by Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan who held bilateral discussions with President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday June 2nd at the State House.

In a statement from State House, Erdogan said that his country understands Kenya’s concerns since it has also been affected by security threats.

“Kenya has invested heavily in the stability of the whole region. Both Turkey and Kenya have faced similar problems because of their geographical locations,” he said.

On Somalia, the two presidents agreed to continue working closely for the re-stabilisation of the troubled state.

The Turkish leader said his country will continue sharing military and intelligence information with Kenya because both countries live in regions affected by terrorism.

Turkey is the first country to openly come out and back Kenya’s intentions to repatriate refugees and shut down Dadaab refugee camp on grounds of security.

On the other hand, the Turkish leader blamed Western powers for being quick in giving suggestions but doing little to fix the problem.

Erdogan called on the international community to take up its responsibility over the issue of refugees.
