As Nakumatt and Tuskys continue to finalize talks over a possible buyout Tuskys has moved forward to take over Nakumatt's Kisii branch.
According to reports, Tuskys has been branding the branch ahead of its opening on Tuesday which would increase the number of total outlets in the town to two.
“We have begun stocking the new store and expect to open by Tuesday,” said a source who declined to be named as reported by The Standard.
This follows news of the retailer chain being closed out of their Diani branch in Kwale following failure to pay rent.
The amount owed is yet to be disclosed however, the landlords issued the retailer a notice stating that they had repossessed the space taken up by the anchor tenant.
“The term granted under the lease now stands absolutely terminated and the landlord now assumes control of the premises,” reads the letter. The closure is said to have shocked several employees who claim the store was locked before opening business hours.
