The accused persons included fourteen men and six women. All pleaded guilty to the charges and were fined Sh500 each by chief resident magistrate Felix Kombo who warned them against breaking the law.

The prosecution desk had told the court that the accused were arrested at a pub within Workers estate at around midnight on Monday by police officers from Bahati Police Station.

The court was told that the accused persons had deliberately conspired with the bar attendant to break the law as they were arrested while busy drinking after the lapse of lawful drinking hours while making noise in a disorderly manner, and indulging in indecent behavior.

The bar attendant was fined Sh10,000 for selling alcohol, abetting the crimes mentioned in the charge sheet and also for trying to obstruct police duty after he took thirty minutes to open the door of the drinking joint after being ordered to do so by police.

The prosecution added that police had applied extra efforts to carry out the arrest when the police driver was commanded to drive away to give an impression that police had given up.

The magistrate was told that the police officers however remained vigilant outside the bar and stormed inside after the bar attendant opened the door to allow some revelers out.
