Twiga Chemical Industries scooped top honours at the 2017 Company of the Year Award (COYA) at a colourful ceremony in Nairobi on Friday evening. ICEA General Insurance chief executive officer Steven Oluoch was announced as the CEO of the Year while Charanjeet Singh, the Kaizen co-ordinator at Blowplast Ltd, scooped the Manager of the Year (MOYA) award.
Twiga Chemical’s managing director, Anantharaman Ramamurthy, was first runners-up CEO of the Year while it’s general manager in charge of crop protection and animal health James Mwangi emerged first runners up in the Manager of the Year category.
Nairobi Bottlers Ltd came in second as the first runners-up in the COYA awards organised by the Kenya Institute of the Management (KIM) while Kenyatta National Hospital won the Special judges Award.
The COYA gala event also celebrated small and medium enterprises (SME) in a category christened the SME of the Year Awards (SMOYA) for the important role they play as drivers of the the economy.
Speaking at the gala dinner themed Transformational Leadership in Disruptive Markets, Toyota Kenya Ltd and Toyota Tsusho East Africa Chairman Dennis Awori, who was the chief guest said in a world that is volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous, technology has now heavily disrupted the way business operates.
