The National Super Alliance (Nasa) 2017 presidential running mate Kalonzo Musyoka has pledged to support his partner, Bungoma senator, Moses Wetangula, for the 2022 presidential bid.Kalonzo who doubles up as the Wiper Democratic Movement - Kenya leader, said Nasa's aim is to see Kenya is salvaged from the helm of collapsing and corruption, and not who gets which position in government. Speaking at Posta Grounds in Bungoma county, flanked by Wetangula, Kalonzo said he will be a happy man if the Ford Kenya party leader becomes the president.
The two were speaking, after Wetangula presented his nomination papers to Regional IEBC offices, to be cleared to defend his seat.The two Nasa co-principals shelved their presidential ambitions to support ODM's Raila Odinga, who is now vying for presidency, for four consecutive elections.
"It is evident that Raila will go home in 2022. And I will be a happy man, if 2022, brother 'Weta' will be the president of the Republic of Kenya," Kalonzo said, sending crowd to cheers.
"And let me tell you honestly, between me and Weta, it doesn't matter who will be the president. For us, it is important who will save this Kenya," he added, Monday.
While addressing supporters, in the Western Kenya county, Wetangula asked the National Police Service to ensure peace in political rallies. He accused Deputy President William Ruto of hurling insults to Nasa leaders from the region, saying Nasa would no longer accept his way of campaigning.
Also present were Ford Kenya deputy Party Leader Kakamega senator Bonny Khalwale who seeks area gubernatorial post, Makueni senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr, among other leaders.
