Two children from Ndumberi, Kiambu Sub County have been admitted in Kiambu District Hospital over supposed cholera infections. Confirming the cases, the Nursing Officer Teresia Mbua said that the two boys aged 13 and 14 were brought to the hospital and feared to have infected with cholera. The two are friends and neighbours in Ndumberi. The nursing officer explained that the two were already admitted and were being attended to, noting that people in the area should ensure they take caution of the spread of the disease. “They are responding well to treatment and we are hoping they will be okay. I however want to urge residents of the area to ensure they take the vaccine on time to curb the spread of the disease,” she said.

One of the boys’ parents, Faith Soire, said that she suspected her son was suffering from cholera after he started having severe diarrhoea and within an hour he was getting weaker.

She explained that she shared with the neighbour and the friend was experiencing the same problem. “I think they might have got this from the same place since they both go for a football training together and they eat and drink there,” said the parent.
