Two adults in Kilifi County failed to sit the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exam which kicked off on Tuesday.Efforts to reach the two on phone proved futile. The examinations kicked off countrywide amid political tension in different areas following the declaration of Uhuru Kenyatta as the winner of the repeat presidential election.Addressing journalists at Kilifi Primary school, Kilifi North Sub County Adult and Continuing Education officer Asunta Migwi said this year recorded the lowest number of adult candidates compared to previous years. She noted that 144 candidates registered for the examinations last year but only one of them failed to show up. “Last year we registered 144 candidates and 143 did the KCPE exams as we could not find one of them,” said Migwi, as quoted by Baraka FM.Migwi said the drop in the number of adults who intend to sit the exam can be attributed to the lack of birth certificates, which is now a requirement.“This year, eighty candidates will be doing their KCPE examination,” she added.
