Mr Feisal Salim and Mr Mbarak Feiswal were being accused of allegedly attempting to sell the monkey for Sh6,000 through a Facebook account.

The court heard that the two through their Facebook account had posted a photo of the animal anticipating to get a potential buyer.

Kenya Wildlife Services officer Jackline Maiyo told the court that she posed as a customer and they agreed to sell the Vervet monkey for Sh6,000.

Ms Maiyo said they agreed on a meeting place and KWS officers arrested the suspects in possession of the animal before Ms Maiyo made payment.

Senior Principal Magistrate Francis Kyambia heard that the two accused persons were arrested at Nakumat area in Likoni, Mombasa on March 12, 2018.

“I wanted to know why these people are selling a monkey for Money. Therefore made arrangements on where to meet them. Salim brought the monkey to Nakumat supermarket in Likoni in the company of Feiswal who was driving the motorcycle,” Ms Maiyo said.

Magistrate Kyambia ordered the two accused persons to be released on a Sh100,000 bond.
