Vihiga Central OCPD Justin Nyaga said police acting on a tip off arrested the two suspects this morning at Gambogi market.

Nyaga said their houses were ransacked and police recovered 8 jerricans of ethanol and hundreds of cartons of finished products.

He said the finished products are replicas of the real alcohol in the market and the Kenya Bureau of Standard stickers used are forged.

“The finished products are marker Shakers and Blue, these are being manufactured by a company in Kisumu who tipped our officers,” he said.

Addressing the press at the police station on Sunday, Nyaga said investigations are still on before the suspects can be arraigned in court.

He warned the public against consuming illicit alcohol noting that they will be on the look out to nab those peddling such substance.

Nyaga said police is still pursing some other suspects who were part of the business noting that the machine used to manufacture such alcohol is still missing.

“The war on illicit alcohol is far from over, we will not relent to ensure our people consume certified alcohol,” he said.
