Confirming the incident, Kisii South OCPD David Mburukua said the two followed the assistant chief to his home and attacked him though the chief did not get serious injuries as the locals came to his rescue.

“The administrator was heading to his home on Wednesday evening when the two young men identified as Griffins Ayieko and Dennis Mochama attacked him," he added.

He said they are yet to know the reasons why they attacked the chief and called upon the residents to respect the administrators.

He gave a stern warning against attacking local administration while they are conducting crackdowns on the illicit brew in their areas of jurisdiction.

The officer said members of the public found assaulting the local administrators will face prosecution for contempt of the law and order.

“If we find you assaulting local administration while they are conducting raids on illicit brew we will deal with you according to the law,” he added

He directed chiefs and their assistants in the County to upscale the war against illicit brew, warning that they risked losing their jobs to more competent people if they failed to comply.
