Two people have been arrested and their truck seized over illegal logging in Mau Forest, adjacent to Kuresoi South.
The two, Shardrack Kariuki and Eliud Kirui, are being held at Kiptagich police station and are expected to be arraigned in court.
Confirming the incident, Kiptagich police boss said they are collaborating with KWS officers to hunt for illegal charcoal burners in the forest.
According to Japhet Mutai, an officer in charge of the forest, Mau forest is one of the forests in Kenya which has been destructed through illegal logging.
"It is bad to find out that some people are pulling down our effort of reforestation while I, in association with other environmentalists are going round educating people on the importance of tree planting and conservation together with initiating tree planting events," he said.
