Police in Kirinyaga county have arrested two people who were allegedly impersonating as army personnel.
According to police reports, the two were arrested after trying to solicit funds from unsuspecting civilians on claims that the funds would go to the army.
Kirinyaga County Police Commander Joseph Nthenge said that they demanded a sum of Sh100 000 from people who hoped to be recruited into the forces.
“They had demanded a monetary package of Sh100 000 from two hopeful recruits,” said Nthenge.
“If anyone has ever given money in the hopes of being recruited into the army, report to us,” he added.
He urged the public to be alert on fraudsters and said that the army recruitment process was always open to all Kenyans without any monetary favours.
