Police in Kisii have arrested two men who were allegedly found vandalising a power transformer near Menyinkwa suburb of Kisii town.

Following a tip from members of the public on early Monday morning, police arrived at the scene in time and apprehended the two, who are set to appear in court today to face vandalism charges. 

The two, who were identified as Wellington Mokua and Kelvin Ocharo, are believed to be part of the gang that has been reported on several occasions over different incidents of vandalism by KPLC-Kisii branch.

“I will really want to appreciate locals for their commitment on working closely with police officers. This is what should be done because we cannot expect all times the police to know everything that is happening,” said OCPD Tom Mutisya.

“I want also to laud my officers for responding quickly following the tip. I believe the two must have been part of the gang that has been reported on a number of occasions by KPLC officers in the recent past,” he added.

Mutisya said the two will be arraigned in court on Tuesday after in-depth investigations by the police and subsequent interrogations so get more information from the suspects.

“They will face the law after we conclude our investigations. We are going to interrogate them on other related crimes to get more information with regard to the crime,” he said.
