Two middle aged men were arrested in Thika as they were transporting 200 cartons of illicit brew to Nairobi on Thursday. Confirming the incident, Thika West OCPD Shadrack Maithya said that the two men were arrested in Kiandutu area where the brew is made before it is transported to Nairobi for consumption by unsuspecting revellers. “Our investigations have revealed that there are very many brands of these illicit brews being made here in Thika but they’re not sold here at all. They’re taken to Nairobi and other towns”, Maithya says. Mr. Maithya has warned the manufacturers of the brews to shun the illegal business because the law will soon be catching up with them. The OCPD appealed to the public to assist the police by providing information if they suspect of anyone operating any questionable business. “These brews are even being sold to our school going children who cannot differentiate between genuine and fake brews. Report these culprits to us please”, the OCPD added. He also warned the clubs against buying their stock from unregistered distributors and companies saying the killer brews are likely to be sold in Thika too hence putting their customers at risk. The two suspects are now in custody awaiting to appear before the court.
