Industrialisation Cabinet Secretary Adan Mohammed, his Principal Secretary Chris Kiptoo and Treasury Cabinet Secretary counterpart, Henry Rotich, are reported to have been taken ill of cholera.
They are believed to have consumed contaminated food served during a trade event at Nairobi's Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), Friday.
The Kenya Trade Week event kicked off July 10 - 12th.
According to reports, the three government officials and other Treasury and Trade Department officials, and at least 50 others were also affected.
Muhammed and Rotich are said to have been treated at the Nairobi Hospital, and discharged.
“We have heard that concern from various participants. We are yet to get comprehensive confirmation from the hosts but, yes, I was also affected but I am okay now. I guess most people went to the hospital individually and got treated. It was quite unfortunate,” Kiptoo told Daily Nation.
It is believed the food taken at the event, was outsourced from a certain city hotel.
Director of Medical Services, Dr Jackson Kioko, confirmed the incident, saying there is a possibility that cholera is affecting some of the city residents.
