Two people were arraigned in Nakuru Law Courts for charges of forgery of school certificates. The two Enock Momanyi, 42, and Mercy Nyambura, 30, appeared before Chief Resident Magistrate Patrick Mwaniki and denied that on December, 1 at Lively Computer Bureau in Nakuru town, they were found in possession of several fake documents purporting to be school, college and birth certificates. The accused, according to the prosecution bench are suspected to be running a counterfeit documents syndicate where they gain financially for forging and distributing fake documents to either knowing or unsuspecting members of the public. The court was shown several certificates, which police confiscated from the accused after forcing them to print them from computer files found in their possession. According to the prosecution bench the two were arrested after an employee of one of the affected colleges in town came to ask for computer services only to accidentally get a certificate design on the computer screen bearing the name and letter head of his employer. The magistrate was informed that the two were arrested the same day before police launched investigations into the matter after the management of the affected institution recorded a statement at the Nakuru Railways Station. The accused however denied the charges and were released each on Sh 50,000 bond. The case will be heard on December 30.
