Two clinical officer interns from Gatundu Level 4 Hospital who died after the vehicle they were traveling in overturned along Kenyatta road have been buried.
Emmanuel Kyalo, 22 and Maxwell Njenga, 23 died instantly during the Monday accident when the van they were traveling together with six other passengers overturned.
Another medic who was traveling with the two, Dennis Sonja, 24, died on Thursday while undergoing treatment at Kijabe Mission Hospital.
Speaking on Friday during a memorial service for the three, Gatundu Level 4 Hospital Medical Superintendent Anne Wairagu said those admitted were in stable condition and were under observation.
According to the Star, Ms. Wairagu said the CT facility at the hospital has also not been operational due to lack of a power stabilizer.
“The loss of the young medic is not only a loss to their families but the country and the medical profession at large,” she said.
Juja OCPD Patricia Nacio had said that the interns were going to Gatundu from Juja when the accident happened.
Mr. Nacio said the injured were rushed to Gatundu Level 4 Hospital to receive medical treatment after they sustained serious injuries with two of them in the Intensive Care Unit.
