Although he may be declared winner of October repeat polls, President Uhuru Kenyatta may however, have a huge task to defend his presidency.
With opposition leader Raila Odinga having declared that he will embark of civil disorder to paralyze Jubilee administration, he however has other alternatives to explore.
“He has options among them calling for secession. This will ensure the country goes for another referendum to decide whether or not Kenya can split,” says Josiah Moenga.
The self – determination issue could further sabotage Uhuru’s administration and should it succeed, Uhuru may be the last person to have served as president of a united Kenya.
More importantly, Odinga may mobilise his troops in parliament to resign a move that could lead to a general election and subsequent termination of Uhuru’s second term.
“Alternatively, he can moblise over 100 MPs to resign and this will lead to dissolution of parliament. If that happens, Uhuru will have his second term drastically downsized,” he further says.
However, it is not clear what option Odinga will take on Monday’s planned announcement after repeatedly insisting that he will not recognize Uhuru’s victory.
Alternatively, he can still explore Supreme Court option should he want to challenge the legal aspects of October elections.
