Two patients are reported to have died at the Coast General Hospital following the ongoing doctors' strike that has now entered its second day.
According to Radio Jambo, the deceased's relatives claimed their loved ones died on Monday night due to lack of medical attention, as health workers at the facility joined their counterparts in a nation wide strike over low pay.
The hospital management has however denied the claims, saying the patients died of natural causes.
Nurses Union Mombasa branch secretary general Peter Maroko, said the health workers in the county will resume duty after their grievances are addressed.
“The over 700 nurses will not report to work until the implementation of a Collective Bargaining Agreement by the government,” said Maroko, as quoted by Radio Jambo.
