Two people died on Friday following a grisly accident at Buto Banta area along the Garissa-Nairobi highway. Several other people sustained injuries.Confirming the incident, Bura OCPD Mr Tom Okot said the two died on the spot after a bus from Earth Plane Company burst its tire and veered off the road. The bus is said to have been ferrying thirty passengers to Nairobi from Garissa town.The injured persons were taken to Garissa hospital and other health institutions for treatment.The officer also revealed that they have contacted the deceased’s kin over arrangements to take them to the mortuary.“The next of kin have been contacted to make arrangements for their bodies because the mortuary they were taken to lacks ice,” said the OCPD, as quoted by Baraka FM.Okot also said that the passengers who were taken to hospital are recuperating well.“We have sent our officers to the Garissa Hospital and I can say that they are all getting better,” added Okot.Buto Banta has been listed among the black spots in the region with several accidents having been witnessed in the area.
