Two people died while another was seriously injured after a motorcycle they were riding on burst its front tyre and lost control on the Meru-Kaithe bypass in Imenti North sub-county, Meru County.
Meru County Base Commander Vincent Okoth who confirmed the incident asked boda-boda operators to be cautious on roads as the festive season nears and also adhere to traffic rules.
“Let us be careful especially as we approach this festive season to avert the loss of more lives. Don’t carry more than two people on a motorbike,” he advised.
An area resident who spoke to Citizen Digital said the new road had many serious sharp bends and appealed to the government to erect bumps to reduce speeding motorcycles and vehicles.
The injured was admitted to Meru General Hospital.
