It has now emerged at least two dozen Kenyans living in Houston, Texas fled their homes due to Hurricane Harvey.
Some of the affected are said to have suffered property damage.
The hurricane that has left behind massive destruction, forced churches and civic organisations with Kenyan members to conduct fundraising drive.
The initiative has been dubbed as Kenyans For Harvey
“The journey to recovery will be long, but with your help we hope to make it less painful to those affected by Harvey,” a website (https://www.gofundme.com/kenyans-for-harvey) associated with the initiative states.
“This is about brother supporting brothers, neighbours supporting neighbours and most important strangers supporting strangers.”
Nearly 50 Texas residents are known to have died in the hurricane.
Harvey has been recorded as the heaviest rainfall ever recorded on the US mainland.
