Victor Wanyama’s stake in the English Premier League (EPL) is growing day by day following reports in England that 20 times EPL Champions Manchester United have entered the race to sign him from his current Club Tottenham Hotspurs.
United join 18 times EPL Champions Liverpool as teams showing interest in signing the National soccer team, Harambee Stars captain.
After bolstering his strike force with the recent signing of Alexis Sanchez from rivals Arsenal, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly in the market for midfielders.
He has reportedly asked United’s board for two midfielders in the next transfer window, with the club eyeing Wanyama to be among the two new midfield players.
On the other hand, Liverpool needs a strong defensive midfielder of Wanyama’s caliber to replace Emre Can, who is reportedly on his way out to Italian Champions Juventus at the end of this season.
Victor Wanyama was vital for Coach Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs team that finished second behind Champions Chelsea in the league last season.
This season, he has been hampered by injuries. He is contracted to Spurs until 2021, and the team is not willing to let him go.
26-year-old Wanyama is a strong tackler. He joined Spurs in 2016 from Southampton. Prior to that, he played for Celtic in Scotland, Beerschot in Belgium and Helsingborg in Sweden.
In Kenya, he played for AFC Leopards and Nairobi City Stars.
