Two famous judges will this morning vacate the Kisumu High Court to their new stations of work following a recent re-deployment exercise by Chief Justice David Maraga.
The two jurists, Justice David Majanja and Justice Esther Maina have been transferred to Kisii and Nyamira High Courts respectively.
Justice Majanja has been the Presiding judge at the Kisumu court and is set to be replaced by Justice Fred Ochieng’.
Justice Maina was the in-charge at the High court. The court's Deputy Registrar Pauline Mbulika said that a handing over ceremony will be convened on Monday (today) morning where Justice Ochieng’ will take over as the Presiding judge as the duo moves to their new stations.
During his tenure at the Kisumu court, Justice Majanja was known to be a thorough Judge who sent away unprepared advocates and also confiscated phones which rung during court sessions.
He is also respected for speeding up cases that have stayed for long at the court.
On her part, Justice Maina has been known to be a tough Judge, with her latest judgment slapping The star newspaper with Sh6 million fine for defaming a Mombasa based judge giving her more prominence.
The handing over ceremony will be presided over by Mbulika and representatives from Office of the Attorney General, DPP and LSK.
