Political re-alignments ahead of the 2017 general election have started to take shape after two governors from the former Western Province declared that they were going to support the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta in next year's poll.
Despite having overwhelmingly voted for ODM party leader Raila Odinga in the past two elections, the region has of late become a battle ground for politicians with many viewing it as a swing vote region, thanks to their elusive unity.
According to the two governors, Bungoma's Ken Lusaka and Vihiga's Moses Akaranga the region is tired of being in the opposition all the time and that they will take their votes in 2017 to the 'right place'.
"We will work with the government so that our region may develop. We need to relate well with Uhuru. We must be respectful to the authorities," said Akaranga.
The Vihiga governor challenged those in opposition to join the newly formed Jubilee Party as the only way to ensure they enjoy the fruits from the government.
On his part, Mr Lusaka said it is because of the Jubilee administration that it has been possible for the Chwele-Lwakhakha road and Musikoma-Buyofu roads to be rehabilitated.
