Two people in Embu have been admitted in hospital after testing positive for cholera.
Embu health executive Dr Jamleck Muturi said seven others have exhibited symptoms and are being treated.
One of the victims is from Grogon slums, while the other hails from Runyenjes.
Muturi said the health department has isolated them to avoid further spread.
The two patients with cholera are said to be stable.
As a preventive measure, food hawking has been banned in Grogon and some parts of Runyenjes.
