According to the hospital’s medical superintendent Dr Eric Otieno, the two are undergoing treatment.

The two were taken to the hospital on Tuesday morning.

According to their neighbour, Douglas Oirere, who took them to hospital, the men, aged 30 and 40 years respectively, took the cassava for their breakfast before experiencing severe stomach pains after which they were taken to hospital.

“They took the cassava and about 30 minutes later, they started experiencing stomach pains and it took the intervention of a neighbour to take them to the hospital,” said Oirere

Dr Otieno said the two men are not at risk since they are currently responding well to treatment and their condition had improved.

He said that a team of public health workers have been sent to Kerina Location to verify the type of the cassava the men had eaten.

Dr Otieno also cautioned residents in the area to cease consuming any type of Cassava until the public health team had finalised their investigations.

He added that there was no cause for alarm since his team was on the ground and everything was under control.
