The Government has upgraded two hospitals in Kiambu County to Level Five status.

Governor Ferdinand Waititu announced that Kiambu District Hospital and Gatundu Level Four Hospital got the nod after attaining the required status.

This brings the number of facilities with such status in the County to three after Thika Level Five Hospital.

Gatundu Level Four Hospital got a Sh1 billion face-lift during the tenure of former Governor William Kabogo.

Waititu said for the start, his administration will donate one new ambulance to each of the two facilities.

"We will also ensure the two hospitals are well equipped with staff and medicine to fit their new status," the Governor said while receiving a Sh62 million drug consignment the county bought from Kenya Medical Supplies Agency (KEMSA).
