Two people including a boda boda operator were seriously injured on Friday evening when a matatu heading to Olenguruone veered off the road.
According to eyewitness accounts, the matatu was overloaded and speeding despite the poor state of the road.
"This corner is always dangerous, and drivers are always advised to be careful while negotiating it but our drivers are too ignorant about this," noted Silas Lagat.
"The ongoing construction on the road reserve should be hastened because the rate at which accidents are happening here is alarming," he added.
Confirming the accident, area AP boss Boniface Ouma cautioned drivers against ignoring traffic rules saying most of the minor accidents that happen on a daily basis could be prevented only if drivers adhered to the law.
"All drivers should respect the fact that while on the road, we have laws that govern their operations and any lapse can inconvenience thousands of other road users," he said.
The matatu was towed to the Olenguruone police post as the injured were rushed to Kuresoi South Sub-county Hospital for treatment.
