According to the agronomist, Victor Cheruiyot, there has been 70 percent of fall armyworms cases reported so far, an issue he said was worrying.

“Recently a farmer from Kapseret reported an assault by the best of the armyworms to his farm saying that it swept almost every green vegetation leaving his land bare," noted Cheruiyot.

He regretted that if the farmer had initiated a control then he would have been in a position to destroy the dreaded pests.

“There are two kinds of pesticides that will destroy the pest completely," added the agronomist.

He recommended farmers to use Thunder from Bayer Company which is applied to the farm with maize or grass after two weeks of germination.

Cheruiyot said that thunder has the ability to control the pest at early stages.

"However, if the armyworm is at its late stages, they can use Belt which wipes the pest completely.

I want to assure farmers that if they use this kind of pest then they can be in a position to destroy this dreaded pest," he added.
